Personal data is all information pertaining to an identified or identifiable natural person. When we process personal data, this means that we collect, store, use this data, forward it to others, or delete it.

HINGE will only collect and process your personal data in the following cases:

If you visit our website and are not a user.
If you contact us directly.
If you install the HINGE app.
If you register on HINGE or subscribe to HINGE and then use our Watch Party features.

What Data Does HINGE Collect?

When registering, which is initially free of charge, the user is asked to provide a minimum amount of data that are required to complete the registration process. This data includes:

Username (pseudonym)
City
Date of birth
Favorite movie genres and watch preferences (to recommend public watch parties)
Profile picture
Email address

Note: We have explicitly removed dating-related profiling from our system. HINGE is dedicated to synchronized movie streaming and building entertainment communities.

Shared Content & Video Chat

HINGE users can share content with other users through the platform, for example by sharing content in chat messages during a watch party. As a user, you can use our voice/video chat feature to communicate with your friends while watching a movie. End-to-end encryption is used for this type of communication.
